The Device
The fully automated device captures microscopic air voids in the range of 10 to 4000 µm using highly precise optics. Specially developed software calculates air-void parameters in hardened concrete.
For a measuring length of 1200 mm, more than 500 images are captured and evaluated using 3 different illumination angles.
Method
By overlaying recorded images and determining various parameters, the edges of the air voids are detected and the air-void sizes are calculated – objectively and reproducibly.
Sample Preparation
The same requirements apply as for manual counting.
Testing
Fully automatic optical sample detection and image capture. A measuring length of 1200 mm takes about 30 minutes.
Evaluation
Automatic analysis of common air-void parameters. Results are provided as a configurable Excel report with traceable, manually verifiable data.
The Method in Detail
Image recognition algorithms distinguish pores in aggregate and cement paste, detect the edges of air voids, and calculate the air-void parameters.
Sample Preparation
In principle, samples are prepared in the same way as for manual counting. Necessary prerequisites are clearly developed pore edges, few edge breakouts, and thorough removal of grinding residues.Test Procedure
The test procedure is very simple and consists of the following steps:
- Insert specimen
- Start measurement
- Fully automatic measurement
- Fully automatic calculation of air-void parameters
- Results in report form
Evaluation Results
All measurement results can be transferred directly to Labor Management and further processed there.
Alternatively, a report is generated that contains the air-void parameters. Captured and classified images are stored and can be manually reviewed in the software if required.Your Benefits
